Chapter 1 (pages 3-22) -- What would you do? Part 2

Imagine you are living in the village. The Nazi's come in and giveyou 15 minutes to pack your life into one bag not weighing more than 20 pounds. What would you take and why?

  1. The items that I would take with me are a bottle of water and some healthy bars. The bottle of water would help me hidrate, because in summet the climate is hot and you drink a lot. The healthy bars would keep me full so I wont have to suffer from hunger.

  2. If Nazi's would come and tell me that I have 15 minutes to pack I would be shocked. But I would take water with me and some fruits and a little bit of money. I would take water with me because I would need it during the long journey. I would also need water so I don't get dehydrated. I would also definitely take fruits because fruits have sugar and water to keep me wanting to live. I would also take money just in case we get freed, so I have money to go on a bus and go back home. Apart from all of this I would definitely need to be in a happy state of mind so I don't get depressed about everything moving so slowly.

  3. If I had 15 minutes to pack items that might save my life I would probably take with me; water, bread, matches, and as many pictures I could fit of my life so far. I would take the water because it is crucial for survival. I would take some bread because I dont know were I am going, for how long, if there might be food, or if they are going to give us food. The matches I would take because with them I could start a fire to keep me warm or to warm something and to light something in the dark for me. The pictures I would take because I would want to remember my home, my neighbors, my friends and my family that maybe I wont be able to see ever again. Apart form the material things I could take with me I would also part with a very calm, hopeful, and optimistic attitude.

  4. If i only had 15 minutes to pack first i would take water. Water is very important especially with the conditions in which Jews were treated. I would take a warm seater because the weather would be cold and we would not be provided much warmth from the Nazi's. I would take money and documents. If i ever got out i would have to be able to prove who i am and i would need to get places or food. I would also pack a notebook and pen to write down my feelings, to record and not let anyone forget me. Finally I would pack something to protect myself with. It probably wouldnt help much against against the Nazi's guns, but it would give me self assurance and just that little beam of resistance.

  5. If I were told to pack in 15 min by the Nazi, I probably would have packed many light things.
The things I would take would be water, food, medicine, and blankets. I would bring water to not get dehydrated, food to eat along the way, medicine just in case I got injured/sick, and blankets if I were cold. I would bring all of these because it would be necessary in order to survive. Sharing my things would also be an option to people that couldn’t bring or afford it. If I had enough space I would also bring something like clothes or hygiene things. I would also bring money and documents just in case I get the chance to get away from the Nazis. I would also probably bring matches just in case I wanted to start a fire or something like that. I would also try be positive and try to find a way to get out.

  6. If I only had 15 minutes to pack I would definately take water, light foods that do not weigh as much, money, and a blanket. I would take water to keep hydrated and maybe wash my hands to keep clean, food to keep me energized so that I will have the strenghth to keep moving. I would also take money just in case we get freed or sneak off, and a blanket so that I can keep myself warm during the journey and cold nights.-Celeste

  7. Fifteen minutes and only twenty pounds of our life to take? This is surely a hasty decision. My mind is working hard and fast on what is absolutely necessary to live. Water, check, bread, check (because it's one of the lightest food to carry), money, check, and lastly, a first-aid kit in case of an emergency. Of course these things have absolutely no accommodations; there is no room for them, only for survival. I have to take the necessities; the things that will help me survive and give me a chance at living through all of the malice. But back to the things I would take, water would be the thing that I would take the most, unfortunately it is also the heaviest item to carry. A human can live without food for days, but without water there's at least a slim chance of survival.

  8. If the Nazis only gave me 15 minutes to pack then naturally I would pack several bottles of water, so I can keep hydrated and live longer. I would pack some fruit and bread so I won't starve to death, also so I can stay energized and keep moving and going. I also would bring money, just in case there was any possibilities that I could escape or the Nazis would free me. Then the money would come in handy if I got the opportunity to but more food and water if I run out. I also would bring some clothes, just in case the clothing I had on would get ruined or dirty.

  9. Fifteen minutes is never a lot of time but if that is all I would have to pack my life into a bag weighing no more than twenty pounds then I would surely make haste. The first thing I would pack would be a few photos of my family and me and the letters to and from loved ones throughout my life. Then I would pack my journal and of course a bunch of pencils or something to write with and a sharpener of some sort. I would also pack some clothes like 1 or 2 shirts, a pair of pants, one or two pairs of socks and underwear, a one pair of shoes. The two last things I would pack would have to be a photo of just me before all of this happened to keep my memories of even myself alive and a few rations to share with others in times of need. If I needed anything more then I might as well go without anything. - Michael L.

  11. If i only had 15 minutes to pack i would take plenty of bottles of water. I would take bread to fill me up and many other snacks. I would take anything that could help me escape from the Nazi's if possible. I would bring 2 extra pairs of clothes just in case. I would take a family photo of mines to remind me of good times and give me hope. Last but not least i would take my mini bible to read every night and give me hope.

  12. If I had only 15 minutes to pack I would take some snacks. When going on some kind of trip I would want to munch on something, and it would help keep my nerves down. I would also take as many water bottles as I could, because who knows when you will be able to refill on water, so better to be prepared. I would also take a picture of me and my family; in case we got separated I would want to remember them always. Plus I might be able to reunite with them, by holding up their picture and calling their names, who knows. I would also take a toothbrush with me. If all of my teeth rot I would not be able to eat or talk clearly. I would take a hat with me, because you could pass out if you’re in the sun for too long. I would take some paper and pencils, so if I got bored I could draw or write some thing. Hopefully this would be enough to help me survive during this time.
